Total online retail spending in February was +14% on the same month in 2015. Removing the leap year effect, the growth rate drops to approximately +10%, slightly slower than the growth seen in recent months.
Online spending at local merchants was +10% on February last year, more or less than same as with physical stores.
Online spending at offshore sites by New Zealanders was +18% (+14% with a simple leap year adjustment).
Purchases of Computer and Entertainment Media goods from offshore merchants were up significantly on last February’s levels, at +40% and +55%
respectively.
