Last month saw Google rebrand Android Wear to Wear OS perhaps partly to remind consumers that the system works with both Android and iOS devices.

The new OS has alos brought with it some welcome tweaks, mostly around efficiencies for extending battery life.

Key changes include making dark mode the default UI, automatically switching background apps off unless on a charger and removing the previous feature where Wi-Fi turns on automatically when Bluetooth disconnects.

XIAOMI FIT AND WELL IN WEARABLES

Xiaomi owned wearables company Huami has been doing well in the global wearables market with its Amazfit brand.

The latest model is the Amazfit Stratos which is being praised as a feature rich multisport fitness tracking smartwatch at a competitive price point compared to its competitors.

Features carbon fibre case, 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass and an always on LCD touchscreen. This model offers 50 metre water resistance, GPS and VO2 Max for measuring overall fitness with many other features to explore for the active person.

Fitbit Ace Fitness Band

As well as launching the new Versa, Fitbit’s first wearable for kids helps families stay active together with daily activity and sleep tracking, motivating challenges, up to 5 days’ battery life, and parental controls to safeguard kids’ privacy. Fitbit Ace will be available in stores from April 2018.
