JB Hi-Fi Group CEO, Richard Murray, this morning announced the appointment of the highly regarded Cherie Kerrison (right) as Managing Director, New Zealand, effective 1 October this year.
He says: "Cherie has strong supplier relationships, a deep understanding of the New Zealand retail market, and a proven track record in building successful teams.
"Cherie will bring a wealth of strategic and operational experience to our business along with a proven track record in the New Zealand retail market."
Prior to her 13+ years as GM at Appliance Shed (recently bought by Noel Leeming Group for use as Clearance Centres), Cherie's career included 11 years as Retail Ops Manager at Meikles (1995-2006), before it was bought by Smiths City.
She was also named Retailer of the Year at 2005's Wares Awards.
Cherie takes over the lead of the New Zealand operation, with Rod Korff (General Manager Buying for the last three years), returning to JB Hi-Fi's Australian Support Office in late December as part of the merchandising team.
Of terms of the troubled New Zealand arm's turnaround progress, Richard Murray says: "We continue to see encouraging signs through the repositioning of the JB Hi-Fi business in New Zealand and it is therefore the right time for Rod to return.
"I thank Rod for his significant contribution to the New Zealand business."
