Keith Stewart (above right), brother of Hill & Stewart founder John Stewart (above left), celebrated his 101st birthday last month.

Keith first got involved in refrigeration aged 15 and, shortly after leaving school, joined McAlpine Moors as an apprentice.

He was Fisher & Paykel’s Stores Manager for four years in the 1950s before leaving to run the family manufacturing business.

This Keith later sold, joining Fletcher Construction where he remained until he "retired" in 1979, aged 62, to concentrate on his Project Planning Consultancy, which he'd set up three years earlier.

He also spent time as a lecturer at Auckland University teaching project planning as part of the Building Services Degree.

Keith is a Life Member of the Institute of Refrigeration Heating & Air Conditioning Engineers (IRHACE), first joining up in 1947, and we thank that organisation for providing information and the photos taken at his birthday celebrations.
