SPENDING SLOW PRE THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

By Wares April 26, 2016 Retailing

Slow growth in BNZ card spending to 17 April thanks to school holidays falling later this year.

Retail spending on BNZ credit and debit cards was again fairly slow, with value just +1.49% and volume +2.1% over the same week last year.

With the school holidays this year kicking in two weeks later than last year, BNZ however holds out some hope for stronger gains next week .

Store types with the largest rises in spending this week:

  • Hardware & Homeware +22.5%
  • Liquor +8.8%
  • Travel Agents +6.6%
